Above All, Taking The SHIELD oFaith, Wherewith Ye Shall Be Able To Quinch All The Firery Darts Of The Wicked The Roman shield was about 4 feet high and two and a half feet wide. Holes were repaired before the battle. The curved shield protected the whole body, so the solider could defend all the armor with it. Sometimes the solider put oil on the shields, so the shield would shine and blind their enemies. The word for "Shieled" is Eph.6:16. (Vine;s, thueos ) means: big Shield that covers the whole body, large and oblong, protection for every part of the solider : used methaphorically of faith; the believer is to take up faith in all that efects the whole of his activites. ( Ps.5:12) ,,, (Prov.30:5). The Shield Of Faith protects us from the firery darts of the wicked one, Satan. But God's Word says (1Jhn.5:4) that we overcame it by one's faith. (Vine;s,puroo ) means: tobe ignited, inflamed with anger, grief, lust, to burn on fire, to try to refine; (Refine from without an attack mode, through circumstances, persecutions, trials, tribulations, sickness, poverty, etc. Darts (Vines,belos )means a misslem spear or arrow; ( this kind of attack pierces into us, therefore this attack comes from temptations, enticements, suggestion to your minds, fear and doubt). How do we activate this shield? By faith in God whom made it. Without faith it's impossible to please God. (Heb.11:6) . When you are in a difficult situations, God wants you to hide behind the shield. God is your shield ! (Gen.15:1). Satan wants to start lots of little brush fires, so that you're distracted and unfocused. Then he sends in the attack. Remember the shielf of faith wraps all around you, it's big and it will give you the victory ( 2sa. 22:36). The oil that we supply to the shield is the anointing Holy Spirit. He aids, us with His assisstance. Our faith in His delieverance puts out all the enemies fiery darts. Above All take-up the shield of faith. catcmo2006
