Removing The Victim

Removing The Victim: "Don't other's see how much I'm hurting?" " Can't they see I Need Help?" Dont they care?" The issue is not whether others see or care. The issue is whether we see and care about ourselves. Often, when we are pointing finger at others, waiting for them to have compassion for us, it's because we have not fully accepted our pain. Ww have not yet reached the point that point of caring about ourselves. We are hoping for an awarness in another that we have not yet had. It is our job to have compassion for ourselves. When we do, we have taken that first step towards removing ourselves as victims. We are on the way to self- responsibility, self- care, and change. Today, I will not wait for others to see and care; I will take responsibility for being aware of my pain and problems, and careing about myself. THE BOTTOM LINE: SELF - PERCEPTION Read Gen.1:26-31
Then God said, "Let us make people[a] in our image, to be like ourselves. They will be masters over all life--the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the livestock, wild animals,[b] and small animals."So God created people in his own image;God patterned them after himself; male and female he created them.God blessed them and told them, "Multiply and fill the earth and subdue it. Be masters over the fish and birds and all the animals." And God said, "Look! I have given you the seed-bearing plants throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. And I have given all the grasses and other green plants to the animals and birds for their food." And so it was. Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was excellent in every way. This all happened on the sixth day[Gen.1:26-31 N.L.T].

If we have lived in bondage to our complusive behaviors for a while, we probably see more bad than good inside of us. Many of us tend to see life in terms of all or nothing. As a result, we probably think we are all bad. But in recovery, we need a balanced understanding of ourself. We need to see that along with our bad points we have gifted with strengths. It's not an either / or proposition. A balance view of ourself will help us better understand our shortcomings while also giving greater hope to our potiential. At the end of the 5th day of creation God had made everything except the first people. The bible tells us that He had looked at what He made so far," God saw that it was good." Then God created the first man and woman." So God created people in His own image; God patterrned then after himself;... God blessed them and told them," Multiply and fill the earth and subdue ot. Be masters over the fish and birds and animals.' .... Then God looked over all he had made, and He saw that it was excellent in everyway" [Gen.1:25-31). God distinguished between the human race and the rest of us in His image, with capacities far beyond those of mere animals. God was ( and is ) excited about us ! He gave us abilities and responsibilities to reflect his own nature in all creation. When he created us, he was proud of what He had made! Although we have a sinful nature that came as a result of a fall, we also must remember that we are created in the likeness of God. There are excellence and dignity inherent it being human that should cause us to ponder our potiential for good as well as for bad. catcmo2006
