Victory in the Face of Defeat

Victory In The Face Of Defeat Psalms 3:1-8 N.L.T. 1
O LORD, I have so many enemies;
so many are against me.

2
So many are saying,
"God will never rescue him!"[a]

Interlude
3
But you, O LORD, are a shield around me,
my glory, and the one who lifts my head high.

4
I cried out to the LORD,
and he answered me from his holy mountain.

Interlude
5
I lay down and slept.
I woke up in safety,
for the LORD was watching over me.

6
I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies
who surround me on every side.

7
Arise, O LORD!
Rescue me, my God!
Slap all my enemies in the face!
Shatter the teeth of the wicked!

8
Victory comes from you, O LORD.
May your blessings rest on your people. The Bottom Line: Even David, a righteous man, recognized problems in his life that had become unmanageable. When we fail, even our friends sometimes think we are beyond God's help. David, however, knew otherwise. He looked to God for help and encouragement. Calling out to God to increase his knowledge of him in one important steps in his own progress. God comforted David so much that he could sleep in the face of troubles. What is more, David's worries and anxieties vanished when he focused his thoughts fully on God; he could view life as though all his problems had been eliminated. By passing his problems in God's hands, David had made the most important step towards solving them. True delieverance and happiness come when we acknowledge God as our helper and the main source of our strength. catcmo2006

Prayer For Instruction In Guidance & Protection

PRAYER For Instruction In Guidence & Protection Psalms 25:1-22 N.L.T.
1
To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul.

2 I trust in you, my God!
Do not let me be disgraced,
or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat.

3
No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced,
but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others.

4
Show me the path where I should walk, O LORD;
point out the right road for me to follow.

5
Lead me by your truth and teach me,
for you are the God who saves me.
All day long I put my hope in you.

6
Remember, O LORD, your unfailing love and compassion,
which you have shown from long ages past.

7
Forgive the rebellious sins of my youth;
look instead through the eyes of your unfailing love,
for you are merciful, O LORD.

8
The LORD is good and does what is right;
he shows the proper path to those who go astray.

9
He leads the humble in what is right,
teaching them his way.

10
The LORD leads with unfailing love and faithfulness
all those who keep his covenant and obey his decrees.

11
For the honor of your name, O LORD,
forgive my many, many sins.

12
Who are those who fear the LORD?
He will show them the path they should choose.

13
They will live in prosperity,
and their children will inherit the Promised Land.

14
Friendship with the LORD is reserved for those who fear him.
With them he shares the secrets of his covenant.

15
My eyes are always looking to the LORD for help,
for he alone can rescue me from the traps of my enemies.

16
Turn to me and have mercy on me,
for I am alone and in deep distress.

17
My problems go from bad to worse.
Oh, save me from them all!

18
Feel my pain and see my trouble.
Forgive all my sins.

19
See how many enemies I have,
and how viciously they hate me!

20
Protect me! Rescue my life from them!
Do not let me be disgraced, for I trust in you.

21
May integrity and honesty protect me,
for I put my hope in you.

22
O God, ransom Israel
from all its troubles. The Bottom Line: When we place our faith in God, we can trust him to care for us and help us overcome the things in our life that would destroy us. We need to him him to show us how to live according to his truth. Because of his great love and compassion, he will forgive our past sins when we ask him to. And while forgivness for our sins is important for us to forgive others, we can release our anger and focus everything on God. We need to let God change us, yet we cannot expect him to work his transformation in our life if we are proud and unwilling to admit that we are helpless apart from him. The first step in one's own life is be willing to admit that we are powerless over one's own dependency. Only after we do this we can experience God's healing work in our life. catcmo2006
