Disquise Themselves Under Different Names

Disquise Themselves Under Different Names: 16For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation. (Ex. 17:16) But this why :

Amalek overcome, The prayers of Moses.

Israel engaged with Amalek in their own necessary defence. God makes his people able, and calls them to various services for the good of his church. Joshua fights, Moses prays, both minister to Israel. The rod was held up, as the banner to encourage the soldiers. Also to God, by way of appeal to him. Moses was tired. The strongest arm will fail with being long held out; it is God only whose hand is stretched out still. We do not find that Joshua's hands were heavy in fighting, but

Moses' hands were heavy in praying; the more spiritual any service is, the more apt we are to fail and flag in it. To convince Israel that the hand of Moses, whom they had been chiding, did more for their safety than their own hands, his rod than their sword, the success rises and falls as Moses lifts up or lets down his hands. The church's cause is more or less successful, as her friends are more or less strong in faith, and fervent in prayer. Moses, the man of God, is glad of help. We should

not be shy, either of asking help from others, or of giving help to others. The hands of Moses being thus stayed, were steady till the going down of the sun. It was great encouragement to the people to see Joshua before them in the field of battle, and Moses above them on the hill. Christ is both to us; our Joshua, the Captain of our salvation, who fights our battles, and our Moses, who ever lives, making intercession above, that our faith fail not. Weapons formed against God's Israel cannot

prosper long, and shall be broken at last. Moses must write what had been done, what Amalek had done against Israel; write their bitter hatred; write their cruel attempts; let them never be forgotten, nor what God had done for Israel in saving them from Amalek. Write what should be done; that in process of time Amalek should be totally ruined and rooted out. Amalek's destruction was typical of the destruction of all the enemies of Christ and his kingdom.

Let it upon Our Rememberance: 17Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt;

18How he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God.

19Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it ( Deut.25:17-19).

17Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt;

THE BOTTOM LINE HERE IS :

Let every persecutor and injurer of God's people take warning from the case of the Amalekites. The longer it is before judgement comes, the more dreadful will it be at last. Amalek may remind us of the foes of our souls. May we be enabled to slay all our lusts, all the corruptions both within and without, all the powers of darkness and of the world, which oppose our way to the blessed Saviour. There names have been underdisquises as these:

Al Qaeda. Jihad. Hamas. PLO. Bin Laden. Arafat. Armed Islamic Group. Abu Nidal Organization. Hizballah. Al Aksa Brigade...

Terrorism.

You can call it by any name you want. You can pick virtually any location, anywhere in the world. The details change but the basic facts remain the same. Throughout history, there have been those who have sought to destroy humanity. There have been those who have killed for the sake of killing, whose goal has been to eradicate freedom, peace and harmony. These enemies may span the religious spectrum. They may span the cultural and geographical and racial spectrum. But ultimately, they are one and the same.

When a terrorist attack strikes our country, our community, our home, fear sets in. Why? What is so traumatic about a terror attack? What differentiates terrorism from every other form of death? Why has the US government dedicated billions of dollars and resources to search for and eliminate terror cells throughout the world?

Suicide bombings. Hijackings. Beheadings. Shootings. Stabbings... Planes. Trains. Subways. Buses. Convention Centers. Hotels. Discos. Pizza Parlors...Terrorism is not new. And it isn't going away on its own. But there is something we can, and must, do about it. When we understand the root and essence of terrorism, we also understand how, despite its awful power, we can fight it, each and every one of us, until it is absolutely destroyed.gives us three commandments in regards to Amalek. First, we must wage war against the seed of Amalek--we must do everything in our power to destroy them. Second, we must not forget what Amalek has done to us. And third, we are commanded to remember.

It would appear that the second and third are virtually the same thing. Why would the Bible trouble to command us both to remember and to not forget?

The Bible is telling us that, on the one hand, we must never forget the suffering that we endured, never forget what Amalek has done--and can do--to us. This is important, so that we never slacken our efforts to do everything in our power to fight them.

But that alone is not enough. We must also remember--actively focus our minds on the source of our power to defeat Amalek. We must remember that we survived. We must remember that we were not destroyed. That we lived and we continued and we flourished.Yet we have something infinitely more powerful than doubt: the power of memory. We have the power to remember, to unearth the indestructible faith that resides in the core of our souls: our faith in our God, the God of goodness and life.The commentaries point out, the numerical value of the Hebrew word amalek equals that of the word safek, "doubt."Today the wounds are still raw. The pain is still real. The grief is still palpable. We cannot change what has happened. But we can help change what will happen. Fearing Amalek will not help. Running away from Amalek will not help. Rather, we must not forget that they are our enemy. We must face them and destroy them. And we are able to. We have the power to.

But only if we remember to remember. Keeping a Prayer Vigil around the clock in Behalf o'Amelek our sister's and Brother's that are in harms way of those Amalekites qhom are the decendents of "Essau"(Gen.36:12). In the Word of God we have learned"Amalek " was the first nations, but his latter end shall that he perish for ever. ( Numb.24:20). Back then they hated God's people, the Amalekites had recieved full impact of God's curse upon them that cursed God's people (Gen.12:3). catcmo2006
