5 Steps to Peace with God

5 Steps to Peace with God

Step 1: God's Purpose: Peace and Life

God loves you and wants you to experience peace and life—abundant and eternal.

The Bible says ...

"We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." —Romans 5:1 (NIV)

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." —John 3:16 (NIV)

"I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." —John 10:10 (NIV)

Why don't most people have this peace and abundant life that God planned for us to have?

Step 2: The Problem: Our Separation

God created us in His own image to have an abundant life. He did not make us as robots to automatically love and obey Him. God gave us a will and a freedom of choice. We chose to disobey God and go our own willful way. We still make this choice today. This results in separation from God

The Bible says ...

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." —Romans 3:23 (NIV)

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." —Romans 6:23 (NIV)

Our Attempts to Reach God

People have tried in many ways to bridge this gap between themselves and God ...

The Bible says ...

"There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death." —Proverbs 14:12 (NIV)

"But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear." —Isaiah 59:2 (NIV)

No bridge reaches God ... except one.

Step 3 God's Bridge: The Cross.

Jesus Christ died on the Cross and rose from the grave. He paid the penalty for our sin and bridged the gap between God and people.

The Bible says ...

"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ." —1 Timothy 2:5 (NIV)

"For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God." —1 Peter 3:18 (NIV)

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." —Romans 5:8 (NIV)

God has provided the only way. Each person must make a choice.

Step 4: Our Response: Receive Christ.

We must trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and receive Him by personal invitation.

The Bible says ....

"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." —Revelation 3:20 (NIV)

"Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." —John 1:12 (NIV)

"That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." —Romans 10:9 (NIV)

Where are you?

Will you receive Jesus Christ right now?

Here is how you can receive Christ:
1. Admit your need (I am a sinner).
2. Be willing to turn from your sins (repent).
3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the Cross and rose from the grave.
4. Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control your life through the Holy Spirit.
(Receive Him as Lord and Savior.)

Step 5: Pray

How to Pray:

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Savior. In Jesus' name. Amen.

God's Assurance: His Word

If you prayed this prayer,

The Bible says ...

"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. " —Romans 10:13 (NIV)

Did you sincerely ask Jesus Christ to come into your life? Where is He right now? What has He given you?

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." —Ephesians 2:8,9 (NIV)

Receiving Christ, we are born into God's family through the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer. This is called regeneration, or the "new birth."

This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ. To deepen this relationship you should:

1. Read your Bible everyday to know Christ better.
2. Talk to God in prayer every day.
3. Tell others about Christ.
4. Worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached.
5. As Christ's representative in a needy world, demonstrate your new life by your love and concern for others.

Understanding the Antichrist Part II:

Understanding the Antichrist Part II:
Calling Al Mahdi

by Jerry Robinson
The Christian concept of Antichrist meets Islamic Eschatology

Posted: 3/30/04

"Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain." (Daniel 11:39)

Most of you are aware that I do not care who the Antichrist is or where he is from. I have long considered the discussion and those who insist on discussing it foolhardy. This is because I believe those of us who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior will be raptured (caught up) from this earth prior to the seven-year great tribulation during which his reign of terror transpires.

Unfortunately, many well-intentioned and not so well-intentioned ministers have butchered Bible prophecy either through a clear lack of study and discernment, or worst of all, for gain.

Therefore, the church's need for a healthy and sound end-time theology has never been greater. And those of us who believe we are living in the 'last of the last' days, Jesus' words to 'watch' for his coming carry with it a great responsibility.

I am now going to expound on a teaching that has permeated the Muslim faith over the centuries, but with a great intensity over the last few decades. It is a very intriguing teaching that parallels the Biblical teaching of Antichrist in many ways.

The Biblical concept of the Antichrist spirit and the final manifestation of the Antichrist (ho antichristos), was explained in the first part of this series, Understanding the Antichrist, Part I. We will now turn our attention to this very interesting Muslim teaching that is relatively unknown in the West.

The Islamic teaching that I am alluding to is that of the soon coming Islamic savior, Al Mahdi.

Yes, the holy books of Islam (Quran, the Hadith) contain many prophecies concerning the future. As a Christian, I believe these Islamic prophecies to be satanically inspired, but that is beside the point. All branches of Islam (Sunni, Shiite...) maintain a teaching that in the 'last days,' an Islamic savior, known as Al-Mahdi, will rise to great power and conquer the world for Islam. He will annihilate Christians and Jews, will conquer Jerusalem, and will fill the world with Islamic justice.

What is unknown here in the West is that much of the Muslim aggression we have witnessed since 9/11 can be traced back to those who are trying to 'prepare the way,' for this Islamic savior.

The similarities shared by Al Mahdi and the Biblical Antichrist is breathtaking to say the least and should be considered by any serious student of Biblical prophecy. Not because it is certain, but rather because it is highly plausible.

Imagine... The seed of Ishmael rising up against the seed of Isaac in the last days.

Let's begin by focusing on what clues the Bible gives us as to the belief system of the coming Antichrist.

The Biblical Antichrist's Religious Background

1) He will wage a war in Northern Africa (Dan. 11:42-45)

2) He will then invade Jerusalem and take control the Temple Mount (Rev. 13:1,2)

3) He will persecute the Jews and Christians (Rev. 20:4)

4) He will divide the land of Israel for gain (Dan 11:39)

Recap: The Antichrist will invade Northern Africa (Libya, Egypt), clearly Muslim territory, and then he ascends into Israel. He will conquer Jerusalem and take complete control of the Temple Mount. His vendetta against Jews and Christians will intensify. He will divide the conquered land of Israel for gain. Why do Bible prophecy teachers always describe the Antichrist as a slick Western European wearing a fancy suit and being driven around in a limo? Where is that in the Bible? I see just the opposite. The Antichrist's intentions and motivations are clearly seen from the Bible's description of his actions.

What has always amazed me about the majority of Bible prophecy teachers is that they constantly underestimate Islam. Does anyone reading this think that the world's 1.2 billion Muslims are going away anytime soon? But I digress.

Consider the following story: On Nov. 20, 1979, some 50,000 Muslims were celebrating Islam's 1400th Anniversary in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. As the crowds began their morning prayers in the Grand Mosque, 350 armed men suddenly burst in to the Mosque. (Grand Mosque houses the Ka'ba, the large black stone, at Islam's holiest site) These men demanded that one of their holy men Abdullah al-Qahtani, be declared the Mahdi.

The leader of the celebration denounced them as heretics and fighting suddenly broke out. The 50,000 worshippers were trapped and the siege lasted for 2 weeks. Saudi and French security forces retook the shrine after an intense battle in which some 250 people were killed and 600 wounded.

After the assault, 63 of the rebels were beheaded including their leader. (1)

Facts about the Islamic Mahdi

Let me arm you with some facts about Al Mahdi

According to the Quran, Islam's holiest book, and the Hadith, a collection of Islamic holy writings that supplement the Quran, a messianic figure will arise in the last days of history known as Al Mahdi. He, along with the 'Prophet Jesus,' (False Prophet) will lead the Muslim believers to victory over the infidels (Christians and Jews).

1) The word, Mahdi, means 'The Guided One.'

2) According to Islam's holy writings, one day the entire world will be converted to Islam. Leading this revival will be the Mahdi, who will assume the role as the Islamic Messiah.

3) Islamic tradition teaches that Jesus will return from heaven in the last days and follow the Mahdi into Jerusalem, where Jesus will deny he is the Son of God.

4) Then, together the two will destroy the 'Cross' (Christianity) and kill the Jews who will be 'hiding behind rocks.' Afterwards Islamic justice will prevail and the world will submit to the rule of Mahdi, and Jesus.

5) All branches of Islam teach on the Mahdi. All Muslims believe this!

In addition, Islam's holy writings describe the Islamic messiah's lineage, name, facial features, etc. in great detail.

  • He will be tall
  • He will be fair complexioned
  • His father's name will be Abdullah
  • His mother's name will be Aamina
  • He will speak with a slight stutter and occasionally this stutter will frustrate him causing him to hit his hand upon his thigh.
  • His age at the time of his emergence will be forty years
  • He will receive knowledge from Allah.
  • He will be descended from the Prophet via his daughter Fatima;
  • He will have the same name as the Prophet, and his father's name will have been the same as the Prophet's father
  • He will have a distinct forehead and prominent nose
  • He will be extremely generous and altruistic
  • He will arise in Arabia and be compelled by popular acclamation in Mecca to lead the Muslims
  • He will withstand attack by an army from Syria, which will be swallowed up by the desert
  • He will fill the earth with justice and equity
  • He will reign for around seven years, as co-ruler with Jesus (after which, an unspecified amount of time later, the last trumpet will sound and the final judgment will ensue) (2)

These apocalyptic Muslims believe that WMD's must be used to wipe out the 'infidels' or Christians and Jews. Their ideas and expectations clearly match the many predictions the biblical prophets laid down in scripture.

    Quotes from the Hadith:

"Imam Mahdi will return at the head of the forces of righteousness and do battle with the forces of evil in one, final, apocalyptic battle. When evil has been defeated once and for all, the Imam Mahdi will rule the world for several years under a perfect government and bring about a perfect spirituality among the peoples of the world. After the Imam Mahdi has reigned for several years, Jesus Christ will return"

"Al Mahdi: His forehead will be broad and his nose will be high. He will fill the world with justice and fairness at a time when the world will be filled with oppression. He will rule for seven years."

"Allah will give Al-Mahdi the ability to righteously rule the Muslim nation in the span of a night. He will fill the earth with justice, as it was filled with injustice. He will lead the Muslim nation to the second conquering of Constantinople and possibly Rome."

    Conclusion

Israel, the country the Antichrist will proudly conquer, is still trying to make peace with its Islamic neighbors.

Islam is the only global religion that still continues the practice of beheading. Interestingly, Rev. 20:4 speaks of the Christian tribulation saints who are beheaded for their faith.

The Bible describes a time during the great tribulation when the Antichrist sweeps into Jerusalem after his conquest of Northern Africa. This begs the question that if the Jews flee from Jerusalem, who would immediately move in? The Muslims. But wouldn't the Christians prevent it? No. They will be beheaded for their testimony. Additionally, any Muslim who had the ability to liberate Jerusalem from Jewish hands would be considered a hero throughout the Islamic world.

Finally, Islam teaches that Jesus was born of Mary and was a great prophet but that he is not the Son of God. Muslims teach that it is not possible for God to have a son. This opposing view of who Jesus is one of the greatest distinctions between Islam and Christianity.

Remember, the apostle John gave us clues on how to identify Antichrist. According to 1 John 2:22, the spirit of antichrist and 'The Antichrist' always deny three things:

  • Both deny the deity of Jesus Christ
  • Both deny that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
  • Both deny the relationship between the Father and the Son.

The evil time foretold by Jesus is here. 'Yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me." (John 16:2,3)

Pray for those deceived by the Islamic religion. And continue to watch and be sober!

Understanding the Antichrist - Part I

A basic outline of the character and identity of the coming Antichrist

    Posted: 3/18/04

"And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion:

and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?"
    (Rev. 13:1-3)

Much confusion and misinformation surrounds the biblical teaching of the coming Antichrist (Greek= 'ho antichristos'). The following outline contains information that I have gathered from several different cited sources over the last few months for study purposes. Consider it an working outline. It should be read as such.

    Facts About the Biblical Antichrist

  • The Antichrist is a man who will rule a global empire at the end of the age.
  • He will make a peace treaty with many nations, including Israel, for seven years.
  • He will eventually set up his kingdom in Jerusalem.
  • He will instigate the final battle of the ages called Armageddon.

The Antichrist will be a master of war. He will use WMD's in order to control entire nations. Those who do not convert to his camp will be beheaded and others will be forced into starvation. (See Rev. 13:15-17, Rev. 20:4).

Around 90 A.D., the apostle John penned his 3 epistles. He used the term Antichrist 4 times.
    (See 1 John 2:18; 22; 4:3; 2 John 1:7)

Now the antichrist spirit existed in John's day but the Bible says that at the end of days, one man will appear who will be the prince of darkness, a son of perdition, who is identified as 'the Antichrist.' In 2 John 1:7, the Greek uses the definite article, 'ho antichristos', meaning 'The Antichrist'

According to 1 John 2:22, the spirit of antichrist and 'The Antichrist' always deny three things:

  • Both deny the deity of Jesus Christ
  • Both deny that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
  • Both deny the relationship between the Father and the Son.

To the Jew: Jesus was simply a man of history who formed a new religion
To the Muslim: Jesus was one of the prophets of Allah
To the Christian: Jesus is the son of the living God, Savior of the World.

The Bible gives several different names to the Antichrist:

  • The Little Horn (Dan. 7:8)
  • King of Fierce Countenance (8:23)
  • The Prince that shall come (9:26)
  • The willful king (11:36)
  • The Man of Sin (2 Thess. 2:3)
  • The Son of Perdition
  • The Beast (Rev. 11:7)

Daniel's Four Beasts (Four World Empires):

  • Babylonian Empire
  • Medo-Persian Empire
  • Grecian Empire
  • Roman Empire

Interestingly, these former world empires shared some common elements:

    1) All four empires ruled the Mediterranean sea area.

    2) All four invaded and controlled Egypt

    3) All 4 were involved in dealing with the Jews and Israel

    4) All 4 were involved in dealing with Jerusalem and the Temple

    5) All 4 were gentile empires with gentile rulers

    6) 3 of the 4 ruled from Babylon

The Fourth Empire was the Roman Empire. History tells us that eventually the empire split and and became a dual empire with a one capital in Rome, and another in Constantinople.

This explains why Nebuchadnezzar envisioned this particular empire as the two legs of a tall metallic statue. Both the book of Daniel and the book of Revelation make it clear that out of this Fourth Empire will emerge the final empire of prophecy. This final empire is described as a beast with 10 horns that represent 10 kings ruling over 10 kingdoms that will form and unite at the end of days. (READ DAN. 7:7, 24; READ REV. 17:12, 16)

Similarly, the book of Daniel explains that the two legs of iron (Roman Empire) would eventually produce 10 toes which are the same 10 kings and kingdoms identified by both Daniel and Revelation.

Note: The Roman Empire brings to most people's minds the countries of Italy, France, Germany, etc. Rarely do people consider and factor in these nations listed below as also belonging to the ancient Roman Empire:

  • Egypt
  • Ethiopia
  • Libya
  • Morocco
  • Jordan
  • Lebanon
  • Syria
  • Iraq
  • Turkey

In essence, a major part of today's Middle Eastern countries belonged to the Roman Empire and therefore were part of Daniel's Fourth Beast.

Daniel prophesied that the Antichrist would subdue three kings on his rise to power (Dan. 7:24) Early church documents show that the early church fathers believed these three kings to be: Egypt, Libya, and Ethiopia.

For example, consider the following quote from The Treatise of Christ and Antichrist by the early church father, Hippolytus: "That three horns are plucked up by the root by him (antichrist), viz., the three kings of Egypt, and Libya, and Ethiopia"

Of course, this agrees with completely with scripture (SEE DAN. 11:43) All three of these nations have a strong radical Islamic element that is leading to a strong anti-West, and anti-Israel stance.

In The Days Of Those Kings...

Before this becomes too much doom and gloom, let's gain some overall perspective by considering the final outcome of this man-made disaster.

"And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever." -Dan. 2:44 (KJV)

In the days of what kings? The final 10 kings. This scripture tells us that when these 10 kings are setting up their kingdoms on earth, Christ will be preparing his final plans to set up his visible kingdom in Jerusalem! Rejoice!

Simliarities found in the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation

    1) Both saw a final period of 7 years

  • Dan. 9:27= 1 week
  • Rev. 42 months + 42 months

    2) Both saw a final 42 months of world history

  • Dan. 12:7 = Time, times, dividing of time
  • Rev. 12:6 = 1,260 days (3 1/2 yrs)

    3) Both identify the Antichrist as a beast

  • Dan. 7:7 = Fourth beast rising
  • Rev. 13:1 = Beast rising from the sea

    4) Both reveal a time of great trouble on the earth

  • Dan. 12:1 = Time such as never was or ever shall be
  • Rev. 12:7-10 = Time of wrath & trouble

    5) Both saw Michael the archangel

  • Dan. 12:1 = Michael stands up at the time of trouble
  • Rev. 12:7 = Michael warring Satan in heaven

    6) Both saw 10 kings that would arise at the end of days

  • Dan. 7:24 = 10 horns are 10 kings
  • Rev. 13:1 = Beast with 10 horns represting 10 kings

    7) Both saw the return of the Lord at the conclusion of the tribulation

  • Dan. 7:13,14 = Everlasting kingdom
  • Rev. 19:11 = Lord Jesus Christ returning to make war

  • Tisha b' Av: A Tragic and Peculiar Day

This Wednesday, August 2, at sundown, many in Israel will fast during what is noted as the darkest day on the Hebrew calendar. Tisha b' Av. (The 9th day of the month of "Av").

The 9th of Av is a tremendously sobering day in the Jewish collective mind. And unless you are prone to believe in coincidence or chance, the following information should lead you to pray for the peace of Israel. The Bible instructs us, as Christians, to continually pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalms 122:6)

Consider the following tragic events that have transpired on this dark and sad day in Jewish history:

  • "It was on this day that the twelve spies were sent by Moses to observe the land of Canaan." (1) The bad report from ten of the spies caused fear and disillusionment amongst the Hebrew people, which led to their extended vacation in the wilderness for forty years.

  • In 586 B.C., the First Temple was destroyed by the invading Babylonians and the Hebrews were taken captive by King Nebuchadnezzar for a period of 70 years.

  • In 70 A.D., the 10th legion of Rome, under Titus Vespasian, destroyed the Second Temple in Jerusalem thus fulfilling Jesus' prophetic proclamations (Matt. 24:1-2) which led to the exile of the Jewish people from their homeland until May 1948 when the modern state of Israel was regathered, thus fulfilling another ancient prophecy (Ezekiel 36-39).

  • The declaration of the crusades by Pope Urban II in 1095 A.D.

  • The signing of an edict by King Edward I in 1290 effectively expelling the Jewish people from England.

  • In 1492, the order to banish Spain's large Jewish community was issued in the Alhambra decree.

  • World War I officially began on the ninth day of Av in 1914.

  • The first mass murders at the Nazi death camp, Treblinka, took place in 1942

A Call to Prayer and Fasting

The Israeli state is currently under tremendous global pressure to stop defending itself from the onslaught of radical Muslims who deeply desire the destruction of the Jewish state. Time will tell where everything is heading. But we know one thing for certain. The Eternal King of Israel, Jesus Christ, will return soon for His own at the Rapture and will later make war against the nations who have desired and sought Israel's destruction. The plan of God cannot be thwarted forever. Come, Lord Jesus!

Jerry Robinson Ministries is advocating a time of fasting and prayer with our Jewish brothers and sisters in their time of distress and mourning. We will conduct this fast from sundown Tuesday to sundown Wednesday. If you like to join us, please contact us here.

"If I forget thee, Jerusalem Let my right hand forget her cunning Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth If I remember thee not If I set not Jerusalem Above my chiefest joy." (Psalms 137:5,6 KJV)

  • Dividing the Land of Israel

The date has been set for August 17. This is the date that the fragile Israeli government claims it will begin withdrawing from the Gaza strip and the Northern West Bank. A Mideast visit by U.S. Secretary of

State Condi Rice this week will attempt to enforce this date and to keep Israel locked into its scheduled pullout. U.S. policy still appears dead set on dividing the land of Israel.

While the region has nearly reached its boiling point in recent weeks, things could get even uglier as the pullout date looms on the horizon. As I have been reporting, it is possible that the Israeli government may unleash its military forces against Israeli citizens who disagree to go along with the disengagement as planned. As our friend, David Dolan stated recently in his latest news update from Israel: "Without exaggeration, I can testify that the situation is as explosive as I have ever seen in my nearly 25 years living and reporting in Israel."

It is becoming clear that the people of God need to pray for the peace of Jerusalem as never before!

    Israel Betrayed

From a political standpoint, the pullout is a raw deal. Israel has made concession after concession with their Palestinian neighbors and has little to show for it except piles of dead bodies and a thriving prosthetics industry. Israel is being betrayed.

From a moral standpoint, the pullout is ludicrous. Anyone with an unbiased knowledge of the history of the Middle East understands that the Arabs will never peacefully coexist with Israel -- NEVER. The Muslim goals are crystal clear: Destroy the Jews, conquer the infidel, and spread Allah's glory throughout the earth. Don't kid yourself and don't believe the media hyped garbage being shoved down your throats by the politically correct networks and media outlets: Islam is not a religion of peace, and it never will be.

From a religious standpoint, to say the pullout is heretical is an understatement. Long before our present self-important world leaders were around, God made an everlasting covenant with a man named Abraham. This covenant is recorded and explained in Gen. 12:1-3; 13:14-17; 15:1-18; 17:1-18. This covenant makes it clear that the land in question belongs to the nation of Israel. This covenant has not been forgotten by God. In fact, this covenant is called "eternal" in Gen. 17:7,13,19; 1 Chron. 16:17; Ps. 105.10.

Besides, even if the Jews wanted to give away the land they couldn't really. Why? Because the land is not theirs to give away to begin with.

'The land must not be sold permanently, because the land is mine and you are but aliens and my tenants. -- Leviticus 25:23 (NIV)

God makes it very clear in Leviticus that the land is not to be given away or sold. Just as one would think it ridiculous if a renter tried to sell his apartment, it is ridiculous for Israel or any other nation to attempt to give away what God has clearly given to the Jews.

Body of Christ, do you understand the day and hour in which have found yourself? Are you aware of what lies just directly ahead from here? Rise up, and pray for God's 'kingdom to come.' Jesus, when instructing his disciples on how to pray, told them to pray "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven." According to Jesus himself. we are to pray for the return of Christ! We are to long for it and expectantly await it!

In Paul's final letter he states:

"Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." -- 2 Timothy 4:8 (KJV)

A crown of righteousness awaits all of us who lovingly long for the return of Christ! Awake and arise, Church! Your redemption draws nearer than ever before!
